Joined by a heavily armed robot companion, Klaatu informs the people of Earth that the constant aggression carried out against one another has raised the ire of an alien species, which is now threatening to exterminate all of mankind. 002- Still Waiting  After Shenaniganz loses all its hottest waitresses to new competitor Ta-Ta's Wing Shack -- where the scantily clad wait staff earns bigger tips -- the Shenaniganz staff aims to give Ta-Ta's its just desserts. This sequel to the 2005 indie-comedy hit welcomes back familiar faces, such as Nick (Andy Milonakis), Natasha (Vanessa Lengies) and Calvin (Rob Benedict), and features cameos by Justin Long, Adam Carolla and Luis Guzmán. 003- Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa  A botched rescue attempt strands Alex the lion (voiced by Ben Stiller) and his companions smack dab in the African wild. Sadly, as in Madagascar, Alex discovers he has little in common with the locals, having lived for so long in the city. His friends, meanwhile, begin to doubt they'll ever make it back to the zoo. The film is, by turns, a riotously funny and poignant story of an aging drag queen and his attempts to connect with someone … anyone! Co-stars Anne Bancroft as Fierstein's shrewish mother and Matthew Broderick in one of his first movie roles. 026- Burn After Reading  In this darkly comic farce from Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, an ousted CIA official (John Malkovich) loses his penned memoir to a pair of moronic gym employees (Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand, in a Golden Globe-nominated role) who use it to try and turn a profit. George Clooney and Tilda Swinton round out the cast of this irreverent tale of poorly executed espionage, which also earned a Golden Globe nod for Best Picture (Comedy). 027- My Best Friend's Girl  When Dustin's (Jason Biggs) girlfriend, Alexis (Kate Hudson), breaks up with him, he employs his best buddy, Tank (Dane Cook), to take her out on the worst rebound date imaginable in the hopes that it will send her running back into his arms. But when he begins to really fall for Alexis, Tank finds himself in an impossible position. Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster's Ball) directs this touchingly honest story of family, friendship and bravery, based on the best-selling debut novel by Khaled Hosseini. 029- The Kingdom  An FBI squad led by Ronald Fleury (Jamie Foxx) travels to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to probe a deadly al-Qaida terrorist bombing targeting Americans, but local government bureaucracy and the possibility of another attack threaten the investigators' work. No one is to be trusted in this action thriller co-starring Jennifer Garner as forensics specialist Janet Mayes and Chris Cooper as bomb expert Grant Sykes. 030- The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian  One year after their incredible adventures in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Susan Pevensie return to Narnia to aid a young prince whose life has been threatened by the evil King Miraz. Ending up with much more than he bargained for, Clay winds up instigating a college-wide transformation of ideas toward sexual identity and social politics on campus. 039- 305  Five Spartan warriors engage in the battle of their lives in this hilarious satire of 300. When the king sends Claudius (Tim Laron), Darryl (David Schultz), Testicles (Brandon Tyra), Shazaam (Ed Portillo) and Demetrius the Blind (Sunny Peabody) to guard a goat path, they soon find themselves going head to head with the brutal Persian army. Now, they must draw on all their resources to save themselves -- and to prevent the overthrow of Greece. 040- I Want Candy  Stephen Surjik directs this comedy starring Tom Riley and Tom Burke as two film school students whose first movie goes awry. Desperate to finance their flick, Joe and Baggy turn to a pornography producer who puts up the cash -- that is, if the duo can get semi-retired adult film actress Candy (Carmen Electra) to star. She agrees to do it, and soon their earnest script morphs into a raunchy show shot in Joe's parents' suburban home on the sly. 041- Eastern Promises  In an Oscar-nominated role that requires him to bare all, Viggo Mortensen reteams with director David Cronenberg for this intense thriller set in London's seedy underworld, starring as notorious Russian gangster Nikolai Luzhin. Luzhin finds his normally steely resolve compromised when he learns that a midwife named Anna (Naomi Watts) has discovered incriminating evidence against his "family" in the pages of a dead woman's diary. 042- Charlie Bartlett  This comedy follows the exploits of Charlie Bartlett (Anton Yelchin), a miserable high school student who finds a novel way to fit in with his classmates: by pretending to be the school psychiatrist, dispensing advice and the occasional prescription medicine. Charlie's sympathetic ear and ready access to drugs make him popular with the students, but his activities soon attract the unwelcome attention of the school principal (Robert Downey Jr.). 043- In Bruges  After killing an innocent boy in London, hit men Ray (Colin Farrell, in a Golden Globe–winning role) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson) are ordered to lay low at a bed and breakfast in Bruges, Belgium, until their boss (Ralph Fiennes) phones with further instructions. As Ro digs deeper, she discovers a murky world of online deception peopled by the likes of Harrison Hill (Bruce Willis), a mysterious figure who could either be a friend or a foe. Cassavetes's charming indie yarn follows 30ish New Yorker Nora Wilder (Parker Posey), a single woman in a dead-end job whose friends are all happily engaged or paired off in "perfect" marriages. Love seems to elude Nora until she meets an oddball Frenchman (Melvil Poupaud) who helps her discover life beyond her self-imposed boundaries. Gena Rowlands, Griffin Dunne and Drea de Matteo also star. 110- The Valet  When a photo of billionaire businessman Pierre Levasseur (Daniel Auteuil) and his supermodel mistress, Elena (Alice Taglioni), makes the papers, he gets in dutch with his wife (Kristin Scott Thomas). To trick her and save his marriage, Pierre tracks down an unassuming valet (Gad Elmaleh) who was inadvertently part of the picture and pays him to feign a romance with Elena. But unintended consequences ensue in this merry comedy. 111- A Mighty Heart  While in Pakistan researching a story on shoe bomber Richard Reid in 2002, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman) is suddenly kidnapped, prompting his pregnant wife, Mariane (Angelina Jolie), to launch a desperate search to find him. Versatile director Michael Winterbottom directs this poignant adaptation of Mariane Pearl's real-life memoir, which documents her struggle to rise above the bitterness and hatred around her. 112- Spy Hard  Secret agent flicks get the Airplane treatment when that film's star (Leslie Nielsen) goes on a mission of belly-laughs armed with a slew of secret weapons: puns, sight gags, in-jokes and seductive female spies. Dean Cameron, Tom Bresnahan, Darlene Vogel and Patrick Labyorteaux star in director Damian Lee's rowdy comedy, filmed on location at British Columbia's Whistler Mountain. 116- The Long Weekend  Ad exec Ed Waxman (Brendan Fehr) has two problems: One, he has 48 hours to come up with a can't-miss campaign or he's out of a job; and two, a visit from his oversexed brother Cooper (Chris Klein), who insists on helping Ed score, proves to be a distraction he can't ignore. Through graphic polymorphous sexual couplings -- and using an ensemble cast composed largely of first-time actors -- the film chronicles each character's erotic journey of self-discovery in a raw and riveting fashion. 167- Candy  Two young bohemians hooked on each other -- and on heroin -- head down the path to perdition in Neil Armfield's potent drama. Giddily in love, Dan (Heath Ledger) and Candy (Abbie Cornish) are swept up in a vortex of addiction that unravels their relationship and their lives. Dan must decide whether to save Candy, or withdraw from her in hopes she can set herself straight. This provocative exploration of conflicting worldviews and battle of the sexes also examines -- and explodes -- the assumptions people make about eachother. 206- Closer  Oscar-winning director Mike Nichols exposes the ugly core hiding behind the slick veneer of four beautiful people and their tangled personal relationships in this drama based on the hit Broadway play. A photographer (Julia Roberts) seems content with her boyfriend (Clive Owen), and a romantic (Jude Law) adores his quirky beloved (Oscar nominee Natalie Portman). But when two of them embark on an illicit affair, a cascade of betrayal ensues. 207- Monty Python's Life of Brian  Born on the original Christmas Day in the stable next door to Jesus, Brian (Graham Chapman) grows up to join an anti-Roman separatist group. As he tries to escape trouble with the law, he finds himself reluctantly thrust into the role of the Messiah. Co-starring Monty Python legends John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle and Michael Palin, this classic religious satire pokes fun at fanaticism and hypocrisy. 208- Die Hard with a Vengeance  Bruce Willis is back and kicking bad-guy butt as New York detective John McClane in the third installment of this action-packed series, which finds him teaming with civilian Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson) to prevent the loss of innocent lives. McClane thought he'd seen it all, until a genius named Simon (Jeremy Irons) engages McClane, his new "partner" -- and his beloved city -- in a deadly game that demands their concentration. 209- The Guardian  When legendary rescue swimmer Ben Randall (Kevin Costner) is appointed to teach at an elite Coast Guard school, he's compelled to skillfully train and inspire cocky upstart Jake Fischer (Ashton Kutcher) to excellence, courtesy of some unorthodox coaching methods. But as Ben helps the young hotshot build his strength, he's also aiming to strengthen his character in this powerful tale of courage and endurance from director Andrew Davis. 210- The Last Samurai  Tom Cruise stars as Nathan Algren -- an American hired to instruct the Japanese army in the ways of modern warfare -- in this lush epic set in the 1870s, which finds Algren learning to respect the samurai and the honorable principles that rule them. Pressed to destroy the samurai's way of life in the name of modernization and open trade, Algren decides to become an ultimate warrior himself and to fight for their right to exist. 211- Justice League: The New Frontier  An all-star cast provides the voices of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other classic superheroes in this animated epic that reveals the origins of the Justice League, a group of strangers united to fight an evil none can conquer alone. Based on the graphic novel by Darwyn Cooke, the film also features the vocal talents of Lucy Lawless, Neil Patrick Harris, Miguel Ferrer, Brooke Shields, David Boreanaz, Kyra Sedgwick and more. 212- Across the Universe  An American girl (Evan Rachel Wood) and a British lad (Jim Sturgess) fall in love amid the social and political upheaval of the 1960s in this movie musical from director Julie Taymor that features classic Beatles songs and a mix of live action and animation. On an excursion to America, Liverpool dock worker Jude (Sturgess) falls for Lucy (Wood). But when Lucy's brother (Joe Anderson) is drafted, Jude and Lucy take a stand as anti-war activists. 213- Murderball  Rugby-playing quadriplegics compete for the Paralympic gold medal in this documentary about an amazing sport -- and the strong-willed athletes who participate in full-contact rugby using specially designed wheelchairs. The film, which walked away with the 2005 Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, follows the U.S. Quad Rugby Team as they compete in the 2002 World Championships and the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. 214- Love Actually  Writer-director Richard Curtis's charming treatise on romance and relationships is an all-star ensemble comedy that tells 10 separate (but intertwining) London love stories, leading up to a spirited climax on Christmas Eve. One of the threads follows the newly installed Prime Minister (Hugh Grant), who, on his first day in 10 Downing Street, falls in love with the luminous girl (Martine McCutcheon) who brings him his tea. 215- Reservoir Dogs  Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut is raw, violent, often mimicked -- and unforgettable. A botched robbery indicates a police informant, and the pressure mounts in the aftermath at a warehouse. Crime begets violence as the survivors -- veteran Mr. White (Harvey Keitel), newcomer Mr. Orange (Tim Roth), psychopathic parolee Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen), bickering weasel Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) and Nice Guy Eddie (Chris Penn) -- unravel. 216- Rocket Science  When 15-year-old Hal Hefner (Reece Thompson) -- a New Jersey boy with a terrible stutter -- falls in love with the star of his high school debate squad (Anna Kendrick), he joins the team at his dream girl's urging and finds himself caught up in some intense competition. Writer-director Jeffrey Blitz won the Dramatic Directing Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival for this coming-of-age charmer, based in part on his own adolescence. 217- Identity  Complete strangers stranded at a remote desert motel during a raging storm soon find themselves the target of a deranged murderer. As their numbers thin out, the travelers begin to turn on each other, as each tries to figure out who the killer is. John Cusack, Jake Busey, Rebecca De Mornay, Clea DuVall and Ray Liotta co-star in this spine-tingling thriller that culminates in a surprising twist for everyone concerned -- including the murderer. 218- Constantine  John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) is a private investigator who believes in things that go bump in the night -- an unconventional quirk that makes him somewhat of an eccentric personality in a world ruled largely by logic. When a female cop (Rachel Weisz) seeks his counsel after her twin sister dies in what first appears to be a suicide, she wants definitive proof of the cause of death. But the answers might only come with blind faith. 219- I Am Legend  A terrible virus has spread across the planet and turned the human race into bloodthirsty monsters. Now, mankind's only hope for survival is scientist Robert Neville (Will Smith), the one person left unaffected by the epidemic. When he's not fighting for his life against the hordes of the infected, Neville searches for a cure to reverse the virus's effects -- all the while battling his own doubt and despair. 220- Love in the Time of Cholera  Based on the novel by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, Mike Newell's romantic drama stars Javier Bardem as Florentino, a man obsessively in love with Fermina (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), the childhood sweetheart who rejected him long ago. Although Fermina is married to another man (Benjamin Bratt), the devoted Florentino remains on the sidelines of her life for the next 50 years, carving out a tortured relationship of longing and passion. 221- The Quiet American  Based on the novel by Graham Greene, this murder mystery centers on a love triangle set against the French Indochina War in 1952 Vietnam -- a world suffused with opium, intrigue and betrayal. A British reporter, Fowler (Michael Caine, in an Oscar-nominated performance), falls in love with a young Vietnamese woman, Phuong (Do Thi Hai Yen), and is dismayed when an American (Brendan Fraser) also begins vying for her attention. 222- The Sentinel  When a government agent is murdered in the nation's capital, veteran Secret Service agent Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) heads up the investigation, but all the evidence seems to point to him as the prime suspect. Convinced the setup is part of a plan to infiltrate the White House, Garrison works to prove his innocence -- and protect the president and first lady (Kim Basinger) -- while butting heads with his former protégé (Kiefer Sutherland). 223- Jackass 2.5  Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and the entire Jackass crew return with even more inappropriate and reckless stunts, pranks and mischief in this film that combines extra scenes from Jackass 2 with behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive interviews. Confronting dangerous animals such as alligators and snakes, fighting one another, and embarrassing Bam's dad are just a few of the crazy high jinks in store. 224- Die Hard  NYPD cop John McClane's (Bruce Willis) plan to reconcile with his estranged wife, Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), is thrown for a serious loop when minutes after he arrives at her office, the entire building is overtaken by a group of pitiless terrorists. With little help from the LAPD, wisecracking McClane sets out to single-handedly rescue the hostages and bring the bad guys down. This classic John McTiernan actioner launched Willis into superstardom. 225- The Lather Effect  On the eve of selling her childhood home, Valinda (Connie Britton) hosts a liquor-drenched high school reunion party, after which she and a handful of her now 30-something friends clean up the wreckage and wax nostalgic about the long-gone 1980s. Eric Stoltz, Peter Facinelli, Ione Skye, Sarah Clarke and Tate Donovan fill out the cast of this intriguing ensemble dramedy from co-writer-director Sarah Kelly. 226- The Sure Thing: Special Edition  When free-spirited Walter "Gib" Gibson (John Cusack) meets studious Alison Bradbury (Daphne Zuniga) during their first semester at an Ivy League college, sparks fly -- unfortunately, mostly disastrously for the smitten Gib. Inevitably, the duo is tossed together when they both answer the same ad for a ride-share to California. Talk about a sure thing … hey, Gib, it's now or never! Directed by Rob Reiner. 227- Remember the Daze  This dramedy follows a group of suburban teenagers during their last 24 hours of high school. Sex, drugs, coming out, drinking and parental pressure are on the agenda as the 1999 grads face the big question, What next? Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, Leighton Meester, Melonie Diaz and Douglas Smith star in this film by writer-director Jess Manafort, an official selection of the 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival. 228- The Shining  On the wagon and out of lucrative work thanks to his alcoholism and family troubles, aspiring novelist Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) accepts a position as the off-season custodian at an elegant but eerie hotel so he can write undisturbed. But shortly after Jack, his wife (Shelley Duvall) and his young son (Danny Lloyd) settle in, the ominous hotel begins to wield its sinister power in this chilling horror classic helmed by Stanley Kubrick. 229- Yeah Right!  Director Spike Jonze takes a stab at the world of skateboarding in this documentary about one of the sport's most notorious teams, The Girl Skateboard Company. Jonze's unique approach is felt by his dynamic footage and camera tricks explaining the allure behind the sport and what makes this specific team tick. Featuring Ty Evans and Cory Weincheque, the film also includes a creative invisible skateboard sequence and a cameo by actor Owen Wilson. 230- Super High Me  Determined to find out the true effects of cannabis on the human body, stand-up comedian and former Stoner of the Year Doug Benson chronicles his experience as he avoids pot for a month and then consumes massive amounts of the drug for 30 days. More than just an amusing story about one man's quest to get superhigh, this 2007 documentary also examines the hotly contested debate over medical marijuana use. 231- Underdog  Underdog (voiced by Jason Lee) is really Shoeshine, a mild-mannered pooch who's been imbued with superpowers following a lab accident. But his teenage owner (Alex Neuberger) is the only person who shares the indestructible hound's secret. James Belushi and Patrick Warburton also star in this big-screen adaptation of the popular animated series from the 1960s and '70s that spawned the phrase, "There's no need to fear! Underdog is here!" 232- Meet Bill  Beleaguered bank employee Bill (Aaron Eckhart) has his hands full with his two-timing wife (Elizabeth Banks), his oblivious father-in-law (Holmes Osborne) who runs the bank and frustrated efforts to change careers. But Bill's life just may turn around when he's coaxed to mentor a wisecracking teen (Logan Lerman). Timothy Olyphant, Jessica Alba and Kristen Wiig also star in this offbeat tale of self-discovery. 233- Flawless  On the eve of his retirement, a disgruntled British janitor (Michael Caine), angry over his company's refusal to pay an insurance claim for his ailing wife, persuades an unhappy American executive (Demi Moore) to join him in a jewel heist. The two subsequently hatch a daring plan to steal the gems from their employer, the London Diamond Corp. Michael Radford directs this crime drama set in 1960s London and loosely based on actual events. 234- The Spiderwick Chronicles  When city-raised twins Jared and Simon (both played by Freddie Highmore) move to a tumbledown country mansion with their mother (Mary-Louise Parker) and sister (Sarah Bolger), it's quite an adjustment -- especially after they uncover a magical and sometimes dangerous fantasy world. Joan Plowright, David Strathairn and Nick Nolte also star in this family adventure populated with all manner of fanciful creatures. 235- Scoop  While visiting friends in London, American journalism student Jade Spence (Scarlett Johansson) beats out Britain's top reporters by exposing a story involving murder and magic. But just as the story heats up, so do things between Jade and a hunky aristocrat (Hugh Jackman). Ian McShane co-stars in this Woody Allen comedy that casts Allen as a quirky magician who calls himself "The Great Splendini." 236- Senior Skip Day  After Adam (Gary Lundy) accidentally reveals the location of the senior skip day party to Principal Dickwalder (Larry Miller), he immediately becomes the most hated guy at school. Now, the only way for Adam to redeem himself is to throw an incredible bash himself. If Adam can find booze, hot women and a gigantic gravity bong, he just might be able to repair his pitiful social life. Lea Thompson and Tara Reid co-star in this raunchy teen comedy. 237- 10,000 B.C.  In this action-driven prehistoric epic from director Roland Emmerich, fierce mammoth hunter D'Leh (Steven Strait) sets out on an impossible journey to rescue the woman he loves (Camilla Belle) from a vicious warlord and save the people of his village. While venturing into unknown territories, D'Leh and his fellow warriors battle dangerous beasts and discover an amazing new civilization ruled by a being known as "The Almighty." 238- Knowing  Fifty years after a time capsule was buried at a local school, teacher John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) examines its contents and discovers that it holds many shockingly true predictions. Soon, John is convinced that his family will play a role in an impending apocalypse. Rose Byrne co-stars as Diane Wayland, the daughter of the woman who first buried the capsule, in this tense blockbuster thriller from ace sci-fi auteur Alex Proyas. 239- Final Cut  In this unconventional British drama, a deceased man's (Jude Law) friends gather for a wake at his widow's apartment and take the opportunity to watch a video documentary he'd been working on at the time of his death. The guests are shocked to find that the video consists of hidden camera footage showing nearly every one of them at their worst and revealing a host of secrets and lies -- which forces them to take a long, hard look at themselves. 240- The Osbournes: Season 3  In Season 3 of MTV's hugely popular reality series, Sharon finds herself facing increased pressure to succeed with her talk show, even as the rest of the heavy-metal clan grows tired of her absence. Jack finally becomes an official adult when he celebrates his 18th birthday; Kelly clashes with Christina Aguilera; Ozzie freaks out when he misplaces an expensive ring and, in a moment of genuine drama, gets into a horrific accident on his ATV. 241- Akira  Based on the popular anime series, Akira is the story of two childhood friends, Tetsuo and Kaneda, who are pulled into the post-apocalyptic underworld of Neo-Tokyo. Kaneda is a bike gang leader, and Tetsuo is a member of a tough motorcycle gang who becomes involved in a covert government project called Akira. On his way to save Tetsuo, Kaneda runs into a group of anti-government activists and corrupt scientists, and a bloody battle ensues. 242- Big Love: Season 4  In the fourth season of HBO's hit drama, Bill Paxton returns as Bill Henrickson: owner of a hardware store, former member of a fundamentalist religious sect and husband to three wives (Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin) who live next door to each other in a Utah suburb. As Bill confronts a host of business and family troubles, he must also deal with his responsibilities as the spiritual leader of a new congregation. | My Recent Activity Shipped: Land of the Lost  Shipped on 02/08/10. After accidentally uncovering a portal to an alternate universe peopled with dinosaurs, Sleestaks and other strange creatures, Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) and two associates are forced to navigate a dangerous new world. After her parents get arrested, troubled teen Vanessa Lutz (Reese Witherspoon) decides to search for her long-lost grandmother and along the way encounters sympathetic youth counselor Bob Wolverton (Kiefer Sutherland). As Bob charms Vanessa into divulging the seamy details of her childhood, she slowly begins to realize that Wolverton is the deranged "I-5 Killer" who's been butchering young hookers in the Los Angeles area. …Shipped: Happiness  Shipped on 02/05/10. A bittersweet film that belies its title, Happiness is not for the squeamish, drawing a dark portrait of a supremely dysfunctional family in which each member battles personal demons amid plotlines involving pederasts and masturbation. Stories concern a prank telephone caller (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who's afraid of women and a preternaturally cheerful woman (Jane Adams) who's unable to make a physical connection.Received: Freeway Received on 02/08/10.
