Genetic pretentions

I was listening to NPR in the car and I heard an advertisement for an Ivy League introduction service called GoodGenes.com. While I shouldn't be so fast to judge that people want to meet other smart people and that college is an indicator of class I found the name goodgenes to be a particularly pretentious way to communicate their message. It presumes that people who did not go to Ivy League schools have a mess of evil genetic heritage and that going to college is somehow a genetic trait that will be nicely transferred through some old fashioned Ivy League post introduction fornication. It leads me to believe that there is reason to believe stories like Gatacca and Brave New World where the convergence of age old class distinctinctions as a way to organize a society merge with technology in molecular biology to create a possible future with class barriers that are impossible to break through. I thought it was funny that the service advertised itself with the following blurb and ignoring the basic premise suggesting eugenics in their name.

"GoodGenes.com is an exclusive online introduction service. Our mission is
to help Ivy Leaguers and similarly well-educated graduates and facultyfind
others with matching credentials. We introduce people who enjoy sharing
thoughts, opinions and quality time."
